Description

“Finance Basics for Accounting Professionals” is a webcast that has been created to familiarize accounting professionals with some of the basic concepts within corporate finance. The webcast starts with a discussion of economic cash flows and investment. Participants will learn how finance professionals recast the income statement and balance sheet to create both net operating profit after taxes and capital invested statements using both the operating and financing approaches. The webcast will also discuss cost of capital, including how the cost of debt capital, the cost of equity capital, and how the weighted average cost of capital are developed. Participants will be exposed to the net present value, internal rate of return, and economic profit methodologies for evaluating capital budgeting opportunities. This course is perfect for Accounting Professionals looking for an overview of corporate finance concepts.

Richard Malekian is President of Shareholder Value Consultants, Inc., a management consulting firm that specializes in helping client companies create value for shareholders through the implementation of Economic Profit/EVA and Free Cash Flow programs.  Those programs include the installation of financial management frameworks within client companies based on Economic Profit/EVA and Free Cash Flow, and the creation of management incentive compensation programs that are linked to those metrics.  Additional areas of specialization include the executive education/training of client personnel in Economic Profit/EVA and Free Cash Flow techniques, and the quantification of customer loyalty initiatives using those measurement tools. 

His client experience covers several industries, and includes manufacturing services, airlines, chemicals, information technology, retailing, consumer products, and utilities.  Prior to founding Shareholder Value Consultants, Mr. Malekian was a Director in the Shareholder Value Management group at PricewaterhouseCoopers, and was also Vice President at Stern Stewart & Company.  Earlier in his career, he served as Vice President within the Corporate Finance Group at American Express. 

His educational background includes an MBA in Finance fromNew YorkUniversity, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the Wharton School of Business at theUniversityofPennsylvania.
